Ended
60 British pounds
Hillanvale Farm, Sevenoaks Weald

Service Description

In your Introduction Workshop, you will learn everything you and your dog need to know to start mantrailing. We will cover: • Theory of Scent • Line Handling -This is essential for communication between you and your dog during your trail and to keep both of you safe. • Taking Scent -Teach your dog to take scent from an item so they can find their trail layer. • How to be a trail layer -You will take turns being a trail layer for other people’s dogs. You will hide and reward the dog when they find you • How to trail -You will do your first trails with your dog • Find the right reward for your dog All dogs can mantrail. The only prerequisites are that they will wear a harness and can be left in a vehicle while waiting their turn. Dogs are always supervised while left in vehicles but they must be able to wait and rest in between their turns inside a vehicle. Harnesses must be a Y-Shaped harness (sometimes called H-Shaped). Dogs are allowed (and expected) to pull while mantrailing so harnesses must be well fitted, allow shoulder movement (no Julius K9 type harnesses) and must not be 'no pull' types. Please ask if you would like recommendations. After you have completed your Introduction Workshop, you will be able to join us on our Trails. They are in different locations to give plenty of variety.
